Waxing Ottawa / Brazilian Bikini Waxing

When you come to Essence of Beauty Spa for hair removal services, be assured that the only waxing formulas we use are top of the line products that are safe and time-tested, and that our facility is 100 percent hygienic.  We use two excellent waxing formulas: hard, soft wax. The wax we choose depends on the hair removal service you want and the sensitivity of your skin. You will experience gentle hair removal with one of our top of the line wax products, or perhaps a combination of the two. It provides an excellent hair removal solution for all areas of the body, leaving your skin looking beautiful and softer for weeks.

Waxing services cannot be performed on clients taking Acutane, Retin-A, or similar prescriptions due to the sensitivity of the skin.

We do not accepting new clients for waxing

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Brazilian Waxing?
This treatment involves the complete removal of the pubic hair (including backside). You have the option to leave a landing strip in front or remove as much as you would like.
Q. How long should my hair be or how many days of growth is needed before waxing?
Your hair should be about 1/4″ long (length of the eyebrows hair) and it will take about 3-4 weeks for your hair to grow this long.
Q. What is the procedure like?
Powder is applied followed by a special wax designed for the most sensitive skin areas. Small patches of the hair are removed with utmost care! To complete the procedure a soothing lotion is applied and homecare advice is given. It’s a very natural procedure, with Eva’s experience and confidence will ensure you are as comfortable as possible that you are completely satisfied with the results.
Q. I have sensitive skin, will waxing give me a rash or some kind of irritation?
Sometimes red bumps will occur after a treatment. If this occurs, it usually goes away in about 24 hours. After your skin becomes used to the waxing process this reaction becomes almost nonexistent.
Q. Should I shower before my treatment?
Yes! You will feel fresher. It is preferred not to put on your moisturizer.
Q. What does “High Cut” or the “Extended Bikini” mean?
The high cut means that your bikini line is narrower than the regular bikini line. The Extended bikini means that it is a regular bikini with overgrown hair towards the legs.

How to Prepare

Let It Grow!

This may be uncomfortable for those getting waxed for the first time, but resist that urge to shave! Hair must be at least ¼ of an inch long in order to wax, longer for certain hair types. Please refrain from shaving for a couple of weeks prior to your appointment.

Don’t Put the Lotion on Your Skin

On the day you wax, don’t moisturize. Wax works better with dry, oil-free skin

  • Avoid hot water on the newly waxed area, and definitely no hot baths unless everything’s calmed down.
  • Avoid tanning or sunbathing for at least 24 hours after waxing, and don’t forget the sunblock!
  • No steam rooms or saunas for 24 hours.
  • Certain skin care products containing acid should be avoided for at least 48 hours. Steer clear of glycolic acid, alpha-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, or anything with “acid” in the ingredients.

Bikini Pre-visit Information

Length of Hair Brazilian Bikini Pre-visit Information
To prepare for a bikini wax, it is important that the hair is long enough to be ripped fully out from the root, the right length about ¼ inches. If you are used to shaving your bikini line, stop this practice for several weeks before getting a Brazilian wax for the best results. If it is too long, please have you hair trim, so they won’t get caught up into the wax to be successfully pulled out It is recommended gently exfoliating the pubic area before the wax, and then doing so regularly after the wax to cut down on ingrown hairs.

Expect Discomfort
A Brazilian bikini wax is an intense experience. The first time is definitely the hardest, because much of the hair has never been pulled out before. Most women are pleasantly surprised to see that it’s not that bad and they only wish they started sooner. If you tend to have sensitive skin or stronger coarser hair, you can take a pain reliever 30-45 minutes prior to your service. Know that the pain is very temporary, and by the time you leave the salon, you should not feel any discomfort at all. The more you do the easier it gets.

Allow your Skin to Breathe
After Brazilian bikini wax, give your skin a chance to breathe and be comfortable. Your favourite pair of painted on jeans may not be the best choice for directly after your first wax. Wear loose fitting clothes and no synthetics, especially if you have easily irritated.
